What are you looking for?

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) settings help search engines better understand and index your website, improving its ranking and display in search results. Meta tags are the "summary information" of a webpage; search engines and social platforms (like Facebook, LINE) read these tags to display the title and description. Fill them in the backend under "Settings → SEO" or in the editor's settings block. After saving, they will take effect on the next publication.

Search Engine Meta Tags

Meta Title (Title Tag)

The Meta Title appears as the title in search results and browser tabs. It's the most crucial field for search engines to determine the page's topic. Setting recommendations:

  1. The title should be concise and impactful, including the main keywords.
  2. Recommended length: 50 to 60 characters (longer text may be truncated).
  3. If left blank, the system will automatically use the website name.
  4. Avoid using the same title on multiple pages.

Meta Description

The Meta Description is displayed as the summary text in search results and influences whether users click through. Setting recommendations:

  1. Briefly explain the website's content and core value.
  2. Recommended length: 120 to 160 characters.
  3. Naturally include main keywords while maintaining readability.
  4. Aim to attract clicks, but avoid exaggeration or false claims.

Robots Indexing Settings (Index / Follow)

Robots settings use meta robots tags to tell search engines how to handle a page, divided into two dimensions: indexing and link following.

Indexing Settings (Index)

Controls whether search engines include the page in search results:

  • Allow Indexing: Search engines will include this page in search results (recommended for most websites).
  • Disallow Indexing: Search engines will not index this page; suitable for pages under development or those you don't want to appear in search results.

Controls whether search engines follow links on the page:

  • Follow Links: Search engines will follow links on the page (recommended for most websites).
  • No Follow Links: Search engines will not follow links on the page; typically used when you don't want to pass link equity to other pages.

Common Combinations

Setting CombinationApplicable Scenarios
Allow Indexing + Follow LinksStandard setting, suitable for most public websites
Disallow Indexing + Follow LinksDon't want to be searched, but want link equity passed normally
Allow Indexing + No Follow LinksWant to be searched, but don't want to pass link equity
Disallow Indexing + No Follow LinksCompletely hide the page, neither index nor follow links

Open Graph Social Sharing Preview

Open Graph (OG) is a protocol developed by Facebook and now widely adopted, controlling how web content appears when shared on social platforms. When you or visitors share a website link on platforms like Facebook, LINE, Threads, or Slack, the system reads OG tags to generate a preview card instead of directly displaying the Meta title and description.

Good OG settings can significantly increase the click-through rate of shared links, as the preview image and title form the user's first impression and influence their decision to click.

Configurable OG Fields

  • OG Title (og:title): The title displayed on the preview card when shared. It can be the same as the Meta Title or slightly adjusted for social contexts, such as adding a more engaging call to action.
  • OG Description (og:description): The descriptive text displayed below the title when shared. It's recommended to be more conversational and engaging than the Meta Description, with a length of approximately 60 to 160 characters.
  • OG Image (og:image): The preview image displayed when shared, the most direct element influencing click rates. Recommended size is 1200 × 630px (1.91:1 aspect ratio), and the image must be publicly accessible.

Key Points for OG Image Settings

Image quality directly impacts sharing effectiveness. Here are common mistakes and corresponding recommendations:

Common MistakesRecommended Practice
Using images that are too small (under 600px wide)Use images 1200 × 630px or larger to ensure clarity across platforms.
Placing too much text on the imageKeep text to within 20% of the image area to avoid rejection by some platforms.
Using images that require login to accessEnsure the image URL is publicly accessible without any authorization.
Not setting an image, letting the platform auto-fetchActively set the OG image to prevent platforms from fetching unsuitable visuals.

OG Support Behavior Across Platforms

Different platforms read OG tags slightly differently; you need to confirm for each:

  • Facebook / Instagram: Fully support the OG protocol; images, titles, and descriptions can all be customized. Use the Facebook Sharing Debugger to preview and force cache clearing.
  • LINE: Supports OG images and titles. A 1.91:1 aspect ratio is recommended for images. Use LINE URL Preview to check display effects.
  • Threads / Slack / Discord: All support the OG protocol; correct settings will enable automatic fetching.
  • iMessage / WhatsApp: Use OG images and titles. Square (1:1) or 1.91:1 aspect ratios are recommended for images.

Behavior When OG is Not Set

If OG tags are not set, platforms typically fall back to using the Meta Title and Description and automatically fetch the first image from the page as the preview. However:

  • Different platforms have different fetching logic, and the captured image may not be suitable.
  • Unoptimized previews often reduce the willingness to click.
  • Once a platform caches an incorrect preview, manual cache clearing is required for updates even after setting the OG tags.

It is recommended to proactively set OG fields, especially the OG image, before publishing your website to ensure the best brand presentation with every share.

SEO Optimization Recommendations

  • Keyword Placement: Include "Region + Brand Type" in your slogans, e.g., "The richest aged curry in Nakano," to aid local search and long-tail keyword exposure.
  • Image ALT Descriptions: Fill in descriptions for each image in the editor, including service or product names, to increase visibility in image search. See Image Asset Upload for details.
  • AI Optimization: Make good use of the "AI Optimization" feature in the editor to help arrange high-traffic keywords and Meta Descriptions, improving search rankings and click-through rates.
  • Regular Content Updates: Keep website content fresh to maintain SEO effectiveness.
  • Title and Description Consistency: Titles and descriptions should accurately reflect the page content to avoid misleading visitors.

Google Search Console and Sitemap Submission

Google Search Console is a free tool provided by Google to verify website ownership, monitor search performance, and manage your website's indexing status.

Why Submit a Sitemap?

A Sitemap is a list of all the URLs on your website, telling Google, "These are the pages on my site that need to be indexed."

Even if you've set up Meta Titles and Descriptions, Google might not know your website exists. Websites do not automatically appear in Google search results; they need to go through the following process:

  1. Google's crawler (Googlebot) discovers your website.
  2. The crawler crawls and analyzes the page content.
  3. Google adds the page to its index.
  4. The page then has a chance to appear in search results.

Submitting a Sitemap allows you to proactively inform Google about your website's location, significantly shortening the time it takes to be discovered and indexed. It's the most crucial first step to getting your website listed on Google. Kanorio automatically generates a Sitemap for your website with the URL format https://yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml.

Verifying Your Website and Submitting Your Sitemap

  1. Go to Google Search Console and log in with your Google account.
  2. Click "Add property," select "URL prefix," and enter your website URL.
  3. Choose "HTML tag" as the verification method.
  4. Copy the content attribute value from the meta tag (an alphanumeric string, without quotes).
  5. Paste the content value into the Google Search Console field in Kanorio's backend under "Settings → SEO" and save.
  6. Return to Google Search Console and click "Verify." If you see "Ownership verified," the process is complete.
  7. After successful verification, navigate to "Sitemaps" in the left-hand menu, enter sitemap.xml, and click "Submit."

Kanorio automatically injects the verification meta tag into the website's HTML <head>, eliminating the need for manual code modifications.

Key Features of Google Search Console

  • Index Coverage: See which pages have been indexed and which have issues that need fixing.
  • Sitemap Management: Submit your sitemap to help Google discover and index pages faster.
  • URL Inspection Tool: Check the indexing status of a specific page and manually submit requests for Google to recrawl.
  • Mobile Usability: Confirm that your website provides a good experience on mobile devices.

How to Confirm Results After Setup

  1. After saving, wait for search engines to recrawl (usually takes a few days).
  2. Use the "URL Inspection" tool in Google Search Console to preview how search results are displayed and manually submit requests to speed up indexing.
  3. Monitor search rankings and click-through rates, and continue optimizing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Websites don't automatically appear on Google. They need to be crawled and indexed by Google's bots first. It's recommended to verify your website via Google Search Console and submit a Sitemap, which is the most effective way to get your site indexed by Google.

Search engines need time to re-index; updates usually reflect within a few days. You can use the "URL Inspection" tool in Google Search Console to manually submit the page and expedite the update.

There are no strict limits, but it's recommended to keep titles between 50-60 characters and descriptions between 120-160 characters. Longer text may be truncated in search results.

Kanorio currently supports single-page websites, using one set of Meta settings for the entire site. If you have multiple modules, you can include main keywords in the description.

Ensure the content value is copied correctly (without quotes or extra spaces) and that the website has been published before retrying. Google needs time to crawl the page; it's advisable to wait a few minutes before clicking "Verify."

It is not recommended. Removing it may cause verification to fail. It's best to keep the meta tag.
